6th Korean Language and Culture Festival in Vietnam
(VNF) - The 6th Korean Language and Culture Festival is being held on October 24th at Hanoi University, and on October 25th for the southern region at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh city.

The festival was established to commemorate the promulgation of Hangeul, an indigenous Korean alphabet which was created by King Sejong of the Joseon Dynasty in 1443 for use by the ordinary people.

Hangeul has been widely lauded by scholars throughout the world for its advanced phonetic system and convenience in learning and using. The Korean people celebrate the creation of Hangeul on October 9th as a national holiday.

The Festival is the result of collaboration by Korean public organizations in Vietnam and Vietnamese higher educational institutions which are interested in cultural and academic exchange between the two nations.

Apart from competition, exhibitions, performances and a food festival will be provided for students and local residents. In particular, books on Korea in Vietnamese will also be on display.

The event is co-hosted by the Korea Foundation, the Korean Cultural Center, the Korea International Cooperation, and the AT Center./.
