A ceremony recognizing the Ba Na ethnic epic as national intangible cultural heritage, took place in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on April 24th.

The epic of Ba Na ethnic minority group is an oral folklore cultural activity from generations to generations. It often tells of feats of arms of local heros and big changes in the village community. It is considered as an encyclopaedic record of the history and culture of the Ba Na ethnic community.

The collection of Ba Na epic in Gia Lai province has been carried out since 1980. So far, about 20 artisans telling the epic are living in Dak Po, Dak Doa, Kbang and Kong Chro districts. They store about 70 epic works in the mind. Many of them were translated and published in Ba Na – Vietnamese languages./.
