According to the provincial Confederation of Labour, there are currently 201 enterprises in 9 industrial zones with trade unions set up in 143 enterprises of which.

So far, 12 enterprises in industrial zones have built up housing for 4,600 labourers, addressing their need for accommodation, accounting for 16.5% of the total required for labourers coming from surrounding localities. Some enterprises have hired accommodationsfor labourers while some others have earmarked their capital to give to labourers to rent accommodation.

Up to now, only 2 enterprises in industrial zones have built pre-schools for labourers’ children. Due to the difficult economic conditions, industrial zones have not paid adequate attention to building facilities for labourers’ cultural or sports activities.

Representatives from the VGCL said that the confederation would study the suggestions from the province to further raise labourers’ spiritual and material lives as well as their working condition./.
