The event was attended by Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Covering an area of more than 1.3 hectares, the project consists of a management house, an information centre for enterprises, a laboratory and a number of workshops.

Construction of the KVIP commenced on November 2013 with a total investment of over VND400 billion (over USD21 million), of which 70% of the total figure was funded by the RoK Government.

KVIP will have the responsibility for supporting enterprises to develop and apply science and technology advances to manufacturing technologies and mechanical engineering serving agricultural and fishery products and processing as well as processing and storing agricultural products in order to improve their quality and value.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Mr Nguyen Thien Nhan expressed his sincere thanks to the Government and people of the RoK for effectively co-operating with the Vietnamese Government over the past years, particularly in forming the RoK – Vietnam Science and Technology Institute and RVIP.

The operation of the two units is expected to contribute to developing high-quality human resources and raising the value of agricultural products in Vietnam as well as increasing the income of residents in the Mekong River Delta region.

The RoK’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy Yoon Sang Jick highlighted that the incubator project is not only a symbol of the friendship between Vietnam and the RoK but also has become a motivation for the promotion of Vietnam - RoK economic co-operation./.
