Central localities complete 4,500 storm-resistant houses for poor families

According to the Ministry of Construction, in realization of the Government’s policy on giving support for storm-resistant houses for poor families in central localities, so far nearly 4,500 poor families have received the houses, accounting for 16% of the total in need.

According to the Ministry of Construction, in realization of the Government’s policy on giving support for storm-resistant houses for poor families in central localities, so far nearly 4,500 poor families have received the houses, accounting for 16% of the total in need.

Under the program, over VND447 billion has been allocated , with VND233 billion coming from the central budget; over VND12 billion from local budget, VND132 billion from loans of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies; and other resources.

Accordingly, the storm-resistant houses have their floor higher than the highest flood levels previously recorded. Each one has an area of at least 15 square metres and is built with capital of between VND30-40 million.

The Ministry of Construction is suggesting the Prime Minister allocate over VND372 billion for the program in 2016.

At present, some 28,000 remaining poor families are in need of storm-resistant housing support./.
