Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Tran Thi Ha Phuong has recently worked with Mr. Yiorgos Kaminis, the Mayor of Athens to promote comprehensive cooperation between the Greek capital and Vietnamese cities.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese ambassador made a brief introduction about Vietnam’s recent socio-economic and political situation, sharing some results in investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Greece. She also suggested the Athens city authority continue strict cooperation with the Vietnamese Embassy to further increase the trade and tourism investment cooperation between the two countries.

Regarding the Vietnamese community in Athens, the ambassador proposed specific measures from Mr Kaminis to support them in completing procedures for Greek citizenship.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Ambassador shared the plans to mark the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam – Greece diplomatic relationship in September, and transferred the invitation from Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen The Thao for the Mayor to pay a visit to Vietnam in the near future.

For his part, Mayor, Yiorgos Kaminis showed his pleasure with the comprehensive cooperation results between Vietnam and Greece. He confirmed that he would do his utmost to promote the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

He added that as Greece had loosened policies on immigration, the immigrant communities in general and the Vietnamese community in particular would meet convenient conditions in making procedures for citizenship. He pledged to urge Greek authorised agencies to give particular priority for the Vietnamese community in Greece./.
