Vietnam shipped over 2.8 million tonnes of rice from the start of the year to July 16^th, valued at USD1.23 billion, reported the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).

Of this, 162,000 tonnes worth over USD68.2 million was shipped overseas in the first half of July.

According to the VFA, the price of common dry rice fluctuated around VND4,900-5,000 per kilogram while long-grain rice shifted between VND5,050-5,150 per kilogram.

Price of type 1 material rice for making five-percent broken rice was VND6,350-6,450 per kilogram, depending on the locality. Material rice for making 25 percent broken rice cost between VND6,050-6,150 per kilogram.

The price of five-percent broken rice was about VND7,200-7,300 per kilogram while 15-percent and 25-percent broken rice were sold at VND7,000-7,100 and VND6,800-6,900 per kilogram, respectively, depending on the quality and locality./.
