(VNF) – Over the past 5 years, over 38,000 rural labourers in the southern province of Dong Nai have received vocational training, thus having opportunities to improve their standard of living, according to the provincial Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs.

Of the labourers, over 19,000 have received vocational training in the agricultural sector and the rest in the industrial and service sectors. Over 35,000 labourers have graduated from courses, with 30,000 getting jobs.

The provincial Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs reported that as the vocational training met the demand for labourers of localities and promoted labourers’ ability, it was of particular significance for poor and nearly-poor families who lack land for production or have limited qualifications. Accordingly, the vocational training has helped over 2,000 rural families escape poverty and over 3,200 middle-income families improve their income.

Since 2010, the province has spent over VND77 billion on vocational training for rural labourers. In addition, VND18 billion has been received in supported from central agencies and ministries to equip vocational training centres.

The province is expected to train 5,800 rural labourers each year, thus creating conditions for some 23,400 to have access to the training by 2020, with a total capital of VND98 billion from the provincial budget and VND32 billion from the central level./.
