In the next 5 years, the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) will give assistance worth nearly VND200 billion to the 3 poor districts of Tan Uyen, Than Uyen and Phong Tho in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau.

The assistance aims to help almost all families in these three districts have access to the national grid by 2020.

In addition, the assistance contributes to realise the Government’s goals in reducing the poverty rate in poor districts to bring it to the same level as the average for the region and doubling people’s income compared to 2015.

Apart from assistance for power access, the EVN will focus on building schools and boarding houses for pupils; buy food and provide essential facilities to improve the living conditions for boarding pupils and children at pre-schools.

In realization of the Government’s resolution 30a/2008/NQ-CP on support for rapid and sustainable poverty reduction in 61 poorest districts in 20 provinces across the country, EVN was assigned to assist Lai Chau province’s Phong Tho, Than Uyen and Tan Uyen districts.

Since 2009, the EVN has disbursed over VND552 billion to carry out support programs in these 3 districts./.
