Foreign tourists to Vietnam in four months rise 17.8%
Foreign tourist arrivals to Vietnam in April reached an estimated 789,500, a year-on-year rise of 11.9%, bringing the total figure for the first four months of this year to over 3.2 million, up 17.8% over a year earlier, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Of this, foreign arrivals by air were over 2.648 million, while those by sea and road were over 50,600 and nearly 545,000, respectively.
Almost all tourist markets saw growth in the period, including Hong Kong-China (143%), China (47%), the Republic of Korea (30.2%), Thailand (29.6%), Italy (29.2%), Sweden (27.1%), England (23%) and Spain (21.4%).
According to statistics by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the country provided services for about 22.8 million domestic tourist arrivals, in which tourists staying overnight were 11.2 million. Total tourism turnover was estimated to reach nearly VND136 trillion, a 19.6% rise over a year earlier.
In 2016, Vietnam strives to greet 8.5 million foreign tourist arrivals and serve about 60 million domestic arrivals, grossing a turnover of VND370 trillion./.
