The Francophone Week 2017 is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City from March 17th-29th with diverse cultural and art exchange activities, organisers announced on March 16th.

(VNF) - The Francophone Week 2017 is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City from March 17th-29th with perse cultural and art exchange activities, organisers announced on March 16th.

Themed “Love and Share,” the event aims to encourage the organisastion of activities for young people.

The highlight of the week will be a French Festive Day scheduled for March 19th in Thao Cam Vien Park, where youngsters are provided a chance to have better understanding of the French language.

Participants will also enjoy performances by famous Canadian singer Athesia and eight films from Canada, France and Switzerland at a French film festival. In addition, many seminars, exhibitions and exchanges will be organised throughout the event.

According to Othmar Hardegger, Swiss Consul General to HCM City and representative of the Francophone community in the city, the Francophone Week is an opportunity for those who love the language and culture of France to meet and exchange, while honouring the cultural values, richness and persity of the Francophone community in HCM City.

Meanwhile, a number of activities to celebrate the International Francophonie Day, will take place across the country, including art shows by Belgian singer Axelle Red in Hanoi on March 18th, Can Tho on March 19th, HCM City on March 20th; Romanian traditional dances in Hanoi from March 15th-18th and in HCM City on March 19th, among others.

The 10th French-Speaking Film Festival will be held in Hanoi, Vinh, Hue and HCM City from March 19th – April 2nd, with the screening of 10 movies and animated films, including two Vietnamese films.

March 20th has been chosen as the International Francophone Day since 1970, offering French-speaking people a chance to show their love for the language as well as their solidarity and wish to live together in difference and persity./.
