General Secretary Tran Phu's 113th birthday commemorated

(VNF) - The representatives of Duc Tho commune party (Ha Tinh province) yesterday paid tribute to late General secretary Tran Phu's grave site on his 113th birthday (1904-2017, May 1).

The delegates offered flowers and incense to Tran Phu's grave site, in order to express their respects and gratitude to the first General secretary of the Party, as well as all the fallen soldiers for their sacrifice for national independence and freedom.

The leaders of the Duc Tho commune also took the ocassion to reports local's achievements in various aspects, and vowed to reinforce the Patriotism committment program, as well as realizing all the targets of social-economic development set by the Party and striving to become the new-model rural area.

Tran Phu was born on May 1, 1904 to a poor family in An Dan commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province, and his hometown is Tung Anh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.

Tran Phu co-founded and joined many patriotic organisations in his youth. In July 1930, he was admitted to the provisional Party Central Committee and assigned to make the first draft of the Party Political Thesis. The Thesis was approved at the first Congress of the Party Central Committee in October 1930, and Tran Phu was voted in as the first General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam in October 1930.

He was arrested by the French colonialists on April 19, 1931. Despite brutal torture, the enemy could not break his ironclad will. He laid down his life on September 6, 1931 at the age of 27.

Despite the short time he participated in revolutionary activities, he completed an enormous amount of work, leaving precious heritage for the Party and the people.

The Party Political Thesis drafted by Tran Phu and other Party documents adopted during his term in office as party secretary contributed to forming the basic guideline for the Vietnam revolution which directed the national revolution to overcome all challenges and gain victory.

On the same day, a delegations led by Poliburo member, Chief Secretary of Hanoi city Party Hoang Trung Hai paid tribute to Tran Phu's relic site at No.90 Tho Nhuom str, Hoan Kiem Dist./.
