Over the past 10 years, over 140,000 poor families in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai have gained access to State preferential loans through the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies.

The loans, worth nearly VND3.35 trillion, have been invested into expanding production, thus increasing poor families’ income and stabilising their lives.
To make favourable conditions for poor families to access the loans, each year, the bank works with associations and unions to carry out transaction activities in 197 places at communes and wards, contributing to reducing the high interest situation in some rural areas.
In the upcoming time, the bank will continue to give loan priority to remote and ethnic minority-inhabited regions. In particular, it will focus on carrying out programs to support the poor and ethnic minorities who do not have adequate housing with loans at a preferential rate of 3% per year./.
