An international art exchange was held in Hanoi on January 30th to foster friendship between Vietnam and other countries as well as between Hanoi and other cities worldwide on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2018.

(VNF) - An international art exchange was held in Hanoi on January 30th to foster friendship between Vietnam and other countries as well as between Hanoi and other cities worldwide on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2018.

It drew about 300 participants including representatives from the friendship organisations in Vietnam, ambassadors, businesses and students from Cuba, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Russia, etc.

Nguyen Lan Huong, head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation and Chairwoman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HAUFO), thanked foreign countries for supporting Vietnam in its integration and development, helping increase the country’s global prestige.

She said 2017 was a successful year for external affairs, with several international events in Hanoi, most notably the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum.

Hanoi took this occasion to establish and elevate its bilateral and multilateral relations with countries and territories as well as overseas localities and organisations.

A wide range of activities were held to open up numerous cooperation opportunities in economics and socio-culture, she noted.

On behalf of the international friends and the Embassies of Latin American countries in Vietnam, Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam, head of the diplomatic corps in Hanoi, Jorge Rondon Uzcategui thanked the HAUFO together with the organisers for hosting this meaningful night, helping promote friendship between Vietnam and other countries.

He acknowledged HAUFO’s achievements over the past years, expressing his strong belief that HAUFO will continue to serve as a bridge connecting international friends and Hanoians, in particular, and Vietnamese people, in general.

He then took the opportunity to wish Vietnamese people peace, prosperity, happiness and success in the new year.

At the event, participants took part in various traditional rituals of countries and enjoyed art performances by Vietnamese artists, embassies’ staff and foreign students. It strengthened the mutual understanding between the people of Hanoi and international friends, thereby promoting the image of Hanoi as a dynamic, open, hospitable and peaceful capital./.
