(VNF) - Within the framework of the visit to Cambodia, on September 10th, Secretary of the Hanoi Party’s Committee Hoang Trung Hai and the Hanoi delegation laid wreaths and offered incense at the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument in Phnom Penh, one of the 17 monuments in Cambodia dedicated to volunteer Vietnamese soldiers who died during wartime in the country.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party’s Committee Hoang Trung Hai and his entourage laid wreaths and offered incense at the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument in Phnom Penh.

The construction of the monument was a manifestation of the tribute paid by the Parties, States, people and armies of the two countries to Vietnamese volunteers soldiers who laid down their lives for Cambodia’s independence and freedom.

They also visited the Phnom Penh-Hanoi Friendship Avenue which is being built with the financial support of Hanoi. With financial support of USD 300,000 in 2004, Phnom Penh has invested in the renovation of a road called Hanoi. Then, in 2016, with an additional financial support of USD 5 million, the City has invested in renovating and upgrading the Hanoi Highway into the largest, most modern 10-kilometre road and officially named Phnom Penh - Hanoi Friendship Avenue.

Prior to that, representatives of the Hanoi Department of Finance and Phnom Penh Chief Administrative Office signed the official handover document of USD 5,257,000, equivalent to 50 per cent of the value of the project.

The high-level delegation of Hanoi successfully concluded a working visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng. The visit has contributed to reinforce and develop the solidarity and friendship between the two countries and the two capital cities in particular and it forms part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties.

Within the framework of the visit from September 8th-10th, Hai and his entourage had meetings with the Vietnamese Embassy’s officials, Speaker of the Senate Say Chhum and President of the CPP Organization of Phnom Penh Pa Socheatevong./.
