Hanoi Fun Run 2022: More than 8,000 People Will Run for Charity in Hanoi

BritCham Charity Hanoi Fun Run 2022 returns once again this November to gather people in a family friendly, fundraising event packed full of fun and suprises for both locals and expats.

After the Hanoi Fun Run 2021 took place virtually due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hanoi Fun Run 2022 will return this year on Nov 13 at Ecopark (Hung Yen, Hanoi).

Over the past 20 years, this annual event has welcomed more than 130,000 runners and raised more than VND 12 billion (about US $483,000) with the support of over 90 sponsors. The organizer, The British Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (“BritCham Vietnam”), estimates that this year, the number of participants is about 8,000 people.

According to Christopher Jeffery, former Chairman of BritCham, BritCham Fun Run 2022 will be a family-friendly morning packed full of fun, running/walking, and activities. The runners can also win valuably prized by attending the lucky draws.

"This annual activity is one of the largest community projects of BritCham in Vietnam,'" said Christopher Jeffery, "It is not about winning, but about coming together as a team, companies, as individuals, as friends to do outdoor activities."

He encourage the participants to join in the run fundraising, saying that the more people joining, the more fund can be raised.

The British Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (“BritCham Vietnam”) is the first-ever Foreign Business Group to obtain formal recognition in Vietnam in 1998. BritCham Vietnam has organized the annual Hanoi Fun Run for Charity every year since 2000.

Besides the event in Hanoi, BritCham will organize the running in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the press conference in Hanoi on Nov 1, Mr. Harry Rawicz-Szczerbo, Head of Trade and Investment, British Embassy Hanoi confirmed that the newly appointed British Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward, and members of the Embassy will also join Hanoi Fun Run 2022.

"Having been here in Vietnam for seven months, I am delighted to see a lot more face-to-face events," said Mr. Harry Rawicz-Szczerbo, "By taking part in activities like the Hanoi Fun Run, the embassy hopes to support history and deepening partnerships between the two countries."

He also thanked BritCham for working alongside the British Embassy in Hanoi at fostering trade and investment ties between companies of the two countries, saying that the event is an opportunity for partners and businesses working in Vietnam to give back to the community and support those in need.

Runners are encouraged to take part in a 5km route (as a group or individual) and to wear creative costumes.

Hanoi Fun Run will also feature a special art performance program, food, and beverage stalls, and a lucky draw for a chance to win many valuable prizes.
