Hanoi helps 3,500 families escape poverty

(VNF) - The Hanoi city Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs has said in 2015, Hanoi will strive to help 3,500 families escape poverty and reduce the poverty rate to 1.8%.

During the department’s meeting to carry out the work for 2015 which was held on January 20th, representatives from the department said that the department would focus on creating new jobs for labourers, especially female ones.

In addition, 148,000 people and 30,000 rural labourers will be given vocational training while greater efforts will be made to accelerate poverty reduction.

In 2014, social welfare was ensured in the city. Over 30,000 labourers were given jobs; over 34,800 poor and nearly poor families and over 9,400 pupils and students had access to preferential loans worth over VND807 billion./.
