Hanoi puts into operation diverse waste treatment factories

In 2015, Hanoi plans to put into operation perse waste treatment factories across Dan Phuong, Phu Xuyen, My Duc, Ba Vi and Soc Son districts, according Vu Hong Khanh, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee.

Notably is the Nam Son waste treatment campus in Soc Son district which is built on an area of 73 hectares and expected to be put operational in April.

The city has made plans for its waste treatment, adopted by the Prime Minister, until 2030. Accordingly, Hanoi will invest in 17 concentrated waste treatment areas with the construction of 9 new sites and the expansion of 8 existing areas.

There are currently 9 enterprises in the city working in waste treatment. On average, each day, Hanoi produces about 5,400 tons of waste, which is majorly buried or burnt to effect its disposal. By 2020, the volume of waste in need of treatment is expected to reach 8,500 tons per day and reach up to 11,300 tons by 2030./.
