Hanoi’s Vietnam-UK Friendship Association holds third congress
(VNF) - The third congress of the Hanoi Vietnam-UK Friendship Association for the 2017-2022 tenure was held in Hanoi on September 16th by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HAUFO) and the Hanoi Vietnam-UK Friendship Association.

Delegates elected 35 members to the Executive Committee of the association in the 2017-2022 tenure with Pham Vinh Quang, Head of the Department of External Culture UNESCO under Ministry of Foreign Affairs, re-elected as Chairman of the association.
Addressing the event, Can Viet Anh, HAUFO Vice Chairman, appreciated the achievements of the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association, Hanoi branch in the past term.
He expressed his hope that the association will continue to implement significant activities which will contribute to boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Vietnam-UK Friendship Association, Hanoi branch was established in March 12th, 2005, as one of the members of the HAUFO and the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association (VUKFA).
During the past tenure in 2012-2017, the association has participated and organised many activitiesin order to strengthen the human solidarity among the people of Hanoi, London in particular and the two countries in general.
In the next tenure, the association will continue to act as a bridge which will promote Vietnam’s landscape, culture and lifestyle and lift the image of Hanoi, the Capital and Peace City, especially in regards to the cultural heritage of Hanoi and to friends in the UK.
In addition, the association will also continue to hold friendship exchange programmes along with programmes to celebrate National Day; the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the political events of the two countries. Meanwhile the association will co-ordinate with the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association, the British Embassy and the British Council to organise cultural exchange events between Vietnam and the UK.

UK Ambassador to Vietnam, Giles Lever expressed his pleasure to attend the event and affirmed the British Embassy will always support the association in organising exchange events between Vietnam and the UK and contributing positively to strengthening friendly relations between the two peoples.
On the occasion, HAUFO and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) awarded certificates of merit for the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association of Hanoi and inpiduals for their active contributions in the work of the people's external relations in the term 2012 – 2017./.
