HAUFO prepares for important activities in 2018
(VNF) - On January 12th, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HAUFO) held a summation meeting of the People's External Relations in 2017 and launched the emulation movement in 2018.
Reporting on the results of the work in 2017, Standing Vice President of HAUFO Can Viet Anh said that 2017 is an important year of the people's external relations. Promoting the achievements of the year 2016 and the importance of the organisation, HAUFO continues to maintain friendship relations and cooperation with foreign diplomatic representative offices in Vietnam; to take initiative in the operations of people-to-people diplomacy; and to create friendship and openness with foreign organisations.
HAUFO Chairwoman Nguyen Lan Huong presents certificates of merit from Hanoi People's Committee to units and associations for their achievements in the past year.
In 2017, HAUFO has always played a key role in the activities for peace and friendship. It has coordinated with the departments, services, branches and organisations of the City, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the central friendship associations and foreign diplomatic representatives to organise plenty of activities that make an achivements to expand the relations of friendship, cooperation, and consolidation between Hanoi and other cities in the world. It contributed significantly to the efficiency of Hanoi’s external relations, and strengthened the mutual understanding between the people of Hanoi and international friends, thereby promoting the image of Hanoi as a dynamic, open, hospitable and peaceful capital.
HAUFO Chairwoman Nguyen Lan Huong affirmed that 2018 is the first year to implement the objectives and tasks of the fifth Congress, the 2017-2022 term of HAUFO; and the year to hold the sixth national congress, the 2018-2023 period of VUFO. Main targets of 2018 are strengthening the organisation of associations and branches in districts with different models and components to meet the requirements of people-to-people diplomacy; maintaining the activities for peace, solidarity and friendship; training officials, both in political mettle, knowledge and professional skills, to meet the requirements of the new situation; and promoting non-governmental and charitable humanitarian activities.
At the meeting, many HAUFO members and associations were awarded certificates of merit from Hanoi People's Committee and VUFO for their achievements in the past year./.
