These are cooperative expectations given by leaders of the two localities at a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on two-side friendly relations and cooperation on September 13th.

Mr. Hideaki Ohmura, Aichi Governor, said that the province is Japan’s leading industrial centre with strong development on automobile industry, airport and robot. Currently, 20% of Japanese enterprises investing in Vietnam are from Aichi, while the number of Vietnamese people living and working in Aichi continues increasing.

Furthermore, he also hoped that direct flights between Aichi and Ho Chi Minh city would be increased from four flights to five flights a week and then daily flights.

Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the city People’s Committee, said that Japan now ranks sixth among foreign investors in the city with 800 projects. However, the figure is too modest to compared with the potential of the two localities.

In the near future, the city will focus on developing mechanics, electronics, information-technology, pharmaceutical products, fine food and food products processing and calling foreign enterprises to invest in the hi-tech industry, he added./.
