Magdalenic Ivica, born in 1987, suffered serious injuries while working on board of a cargo ship of Mashall Islands which sailed through Vietnam’s territorial waters.
When the accident happened, the ship was 84 nautical miles to the East-Southeast of Hai Phong city.
After receiving a call for help from the vessel, the centre immediately sent a rescue ship to the scene. Meanwhile, the Ante Topic ship was requested to head to Hai Phong at its maximum speed.
At 15:00, the injured sailor was brought ashore and rushed to a local hospital. He survived the critical phase and improved gradually.
The centre will work with the Consular Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Croatia Embassy in Vietnam to complete necessary procedures for the sailor to return home after he recovers./.
