Japanese construction group IHI on March 10thinaugurated IHI Infrastructure Asia (IIA) steel plant, capitalized with USD34 million, in Dinh Vu Industrial Zone in Hai Phong.

Earlier, the group had another plant in Hai Phong with its products mainly providing to Nhat Tan bridge project.

Japanese group pours USD34 million in Vietnam

The plant covering 140,000 square meters will produce structural steel for key bridge construction projects, thermo-electric plants and machines to serve the IHI group globally. It has a capacity of 9,000 tonnes of steel per year, of which, 50% will be exported.

Mr. Sadao Degawa, Executive Vice President and Director of IHI Corporation said that once complete, IHI will meet the demands for high-quality steel in the Vietnamese market to serve infrastructure development projects and others in the shortest time and optimize the ability of meeting specific demand of each customer.

On this occasion, IHI continued to present 20 scholarships for students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the Hai Phong Industrial Vocational School and Central Transport Vocational School. This is part of the group’s long-term strategy to bring sustainable benefits for Vietnam through improving knowledge and transferring working skills toa young talents./.
