Lai Chau strives to escape from underdeveloped status
The northern province of Lai Chau has focused on accelerating economic growth rate and improving socio-economic infrastructure, striving to escape from underdeveloped status.
In addition, the province targets to collect over VND500 billion for the State budget, and increase the average per capita income to VND24.8 million, or 60-65% of the national average figure.
To obtain these goals, the province is expected to adjust planning for economic regions; increasing the quality of construction planning as a foundation for socio-economic development and the reinforcement of national defence and security; build up a strategy for human resources development with a priority in training cadres, female cadres and ethnic minority cadres, while giving special treatment towards those working in border and extremely disadvantaged borders.
In addition, investment attraction policies and trade promotion programs will be developed; the application of science and technology will be increased and economic production at domestic, farm and cooperative scales will be encouraged.
Favourable conditions will facilitate the development of private enterprises and cooperatives working in the production and processing of agricultural and forestry products, while the increased management of exploitation and use of natural resources will be carried out to protect the environment./.
