(VNF) – The Rhône-Mekong Association (France) recently granted scholarship with total value of VND 28 million to poor students in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho province.

(VNF) – The Rhône-Mekong Association (France) recently granted scholarship with total value of VND 28 million to poor students in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho province.

The scholarship granting ceremony was held by the Study Encouragement Association of Ninh Kieu district and the district’s office of education in mid August.

The scholarship prioritized needy students who have overcome difficulties to achieve high academic results in 4 wards in Ninh Kieu district, which are: An Nghiep, An Phu, An Binh and An Khanh. The total value of the scholarship is VND 28 million.

The scholarship is an annual activity of Rhône-Mékong which has been maintained in the last 20 years.

It aims at providing poor children with more opportunities in education; encouraging them to keep on striving for excellent results in school and dedicating their talents to the development of the country and hometown.

Rhône-Mékong, founded in 1994, is an association which brings together French people who dedicate special affection for Vietnam.

According to the General Union of Vietnamese in Rhône, Rhône-Mékong's annual sponsorship value for Vietnam is 20,000 euros, including spending on scholarships for poor kids and schools building in needy areas, among others./.
