During the visit, CBM officially handed over the knitting workshop to Thach Binh cooperation group so that the members have a long-term stable working place, especially for women workers and people with disabilities, helping them improve their livelihoods, confidently integrate into daily activities. The average income per person is from 80,000 to 100,000 VND/day, the highest earner is about 150,000 - 180,000 VND/day.
Some women with disabilities are working here, saying that this is not only a workplace but also a place for women to share their feelings, emotions, and encourage each other to live happily.
Chuc – leader of the cooperation group said that she expects to train and improve skills for members so that they can make products that meet the higher techniques required to gain a better income.
With financial and technical support of CBM Vietnam and AFV, within the framework of the project “Promotion of disability inclusive and disaster prepared communities in Nho Quan district”, the Management Board of Supporting Program for Development in Nho Quan started a value chain model of garment manufacturing products, with the participation of people with disabilities at Thach Binh commune, Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh province.
The project supported 16 people including people with disabilities, poor and near poor households at the communes in learning to sew. After the vocational training, 16 sewing machines were provided for local people to manufacture garment products for domestic and international markets.
In 2019, the model ensures a market for products by supporting people to establish two cooperative teams so they will be more active in materials and markets. At the moment the production is stable, and people gain an average income per day between 70.000 VND to 150.000 VND. With this stable income, more and more people with disabilities at communes can have more opportunities and actively contribute to the development of community and society.
In 2020, based on the results of production and business of two cooperative teams, the project will support people to register the establishment of a Garment Cooperative, with the goal of enhancing capacities of finance management, marketing, introducing products and searching markets.
During the process of implementing the model, the element of integrating people with disabilities impacted by natural disasters and climate change is always prioritized. They are encouraged to participate in every step that is appropriate to their health, physiological wellbeing and disabilities./.
