Over 970 PwDs in Ha Tinh and Hai Duong receive free wheelchairs

(VNF) - 976 wheelchairs are gifts for people with disabilities (PwDs) in two provinces of Hai Duong and Ha Tinh, on occasion of the Vietnam Disabled Persons Day (April 18).

(VNF) - 976 wheelchairs were recently presented to people with disabilities (PwDs) in two provinces of Hai Duong and Ha Tinh, on occasion of the Vietnam Day for The Disabled (April 18).

The wheelchairs are sponsored by Free Wheelchair Mission, a nonprofit organization that provides wheelchairs at no cost to people with disabilities living in developing nations, in coordination with Give It Back To Kids and brought to the needy recipients by Humanitarian Service for Children of Vietnam (HSCV).

The wheelchairs are expected to facilitate the movement of the disabled, support them in daily life and work.

Founded in 2002, HSCV's mission is to provide and maximize the relief for needy Vietnamese children. HSCV provides support through specialized programs designed to enable every child to have a solid foundation and chance at a future, including food, education, and medical assistance.

Particularly, HSCV has a perse set of projects to assist children with a wide range of disabilities.

Vietnam currently has approximately eight million PwDs aged five years and above, due to various causes, such as war consequences, congenital disease and traffic accidents.

Governmental and non-governmental organizations have been paying increasing attention to ensuring favorable condition for PwDs' development and integration with the community./.
