(VNF) - Da Nang city Association of Victims of AO has encouraged care for the victims over the past 5 years, apart from disseminating the struggle for justice for the victims.

A perse range of programs have been held to raise funds for assisting the lives of the victims. Over VND45 billion has been mobilised, contributing to building and repairing 70 victims’ houses, and giving monthly allowances to 350 others. In addition, the association has granted wheelchairs and means of support for disadvantaged victims.

The association has paid special attention to improve the victims’ health. At 4 centres specializing in the treatment for the victims and unlucky children, 150 are being cared for, given medical treatment, rehabilitation and vocational training.

The centre for detoxification and rehabilitation has been established to serve the demand for treatment of those who were exposed to dioxin. Operating since February 2004, the centre has so far given detoxification to nearly 100 victims, with fees reduced or exempted for disadvantaged victims.

With nearly 2,500 members, the city Association of Victims of AO has become a home to AO victims where they receive assistance to overcome difficulties in life, integrate into society and become helpful people.

There are currently over 5,000 AO victims in the city, including 1,400 children. Besides physical pain, they face a lot of difficulties in there lives due to a lack of awareness and working skills./.
