Photo exhibition on Vietnam-Laos relations opens in Xiang Khouang

(VNF) - On July 31st, Tat Thanh Cang, Vice Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City's Party Committee and members of the Ho Chi Minh City delegation attended the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition "Forever green and forever sustainable friendship between Vietnam - Laos and sustainable development cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City - Xiang Khouang province”.

The event was also attended by Samkhot Mangnomet, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Governor of Xiang Khouang Province, other provincial leaders and Vu Dang Manh, Consul General of Vietnam in Northern Laos.

Speaking at the event, Huynh Cach Mang, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee and President of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association’s HCM City chapter, said that the bilateral friendship was founded by late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and his Lao counterpart Kaysone Phomvihane and has been nurtured by generations of Party and State leaders and peoples.

He also highlighted the time-honoured relations between the two countries, stressing that the two nations stood shoulder to shoulder and supported each other during the long struggle for national independence, which was a decisive factor in the success of each country’s revolution, and the root of their exemplary special relationship at present.

Earlier, the HCM City delegation came to offered incense in remembrance of heroic martyrs at the Laos-Vietnam Fighting Alliance monument. Members of the delegation spend one minute commemorating the heroic martyrs of the Vietnam’s voluntary soldiers, experts and Lao troops laid down their lives for the countries’ peace, independence and special relationship.

This is one of four monuments built in Laos to express gratitude to the fallen heroic martyrs of Vietnam and Laos who devoted their lives to the revolutionary cause of the two nations. The remaining three monuments were built in the Udomxay, Attapeu and Champasak provinces.

In Xiang Khouang province, nearly 15,000 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and Pathet Lao soldiers and offcials dedicated their lives for the two countries’ struggles for independence and freedom./.
