Poor people to receive VND25 billion for Tet gifts

(VNF) - Information released by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) on January 19th showed that during the lunar New Year Tet festival it would give gifts to poor families and medical insurance cards to poor women worth VND25 billion.

During a ceremony to announce the program, a BIDV representative said that earlier, the labour union had collected 666,666 Tet presents worth VND20 billion to give poor people and soldiers across 63 provinces and cities of the country.

Since 2009, the bank has provided over 404,000 Tet presents worth over VND111 billion for poor families.

At the ceremony, BIDV granted VND250 million for the Fund for children of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour for poor children and VND1 billion for the Golden Heart Fund of Lao dong (Labour) newspaper for poor officials and labourers across the country.

In terms of medical insurance cards, some 27,000 poor women are expected to receive the assistance worth VND5 billion, which will help them improve their standard of living./.
