The fishermen's fund and the fisheries society in the central province of Quang Ngai on November 13th handed over an amount of money as support for fishermen who suffered losses during production at sea.

According, the provincial fishermen's fund has assisted with a donation of VND4.3 billion for the building of new vessels for 7 fishermen whose fishing vessels were shot and sunk, lost or seized by foreign vessels.

An additional VND540 million has been distributed to 13 vessels owners and fishermen whose properties were damaged due to natural disasters while they were at sea.

Meanwhile, the provincial fisheries society has supported 9 boatmen who met challenging conditions to overcome with VND114 million.

The activity aimed to encourage fishermen to continue to go fishing as a way to improve their standard of living and contribute to boost local socio-economic development and protect the nation’s sea and island sovereignty./.
