The Quang Ninh People’s Council has adopted a Resolution establishing the provincial Department of Tourism and consolidating the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism into the Department of Culture-Sports.

The Department of Tourism includes five professional provisions and one public service delivery unit.

Quang Ninh is among a few centrally-governed provinces and cities having received approval to establish the Department of Tourism.

The province has high potential and prominent strengths to develop tourism with Ha Long Bay – the world’s natural wonder, four national key relics, over 500 national or provincial-ranked relics, and urban tourism areas for recreation such as Ha Long, Van Don and Mong Cai. Tourism is defined as one of the main factors of Quang Ninh’s economic growth.

Aiming to promote tourism development in accordance with its potential and prominent strength, and to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector, the establishment of the Department of Tourism, on the foundation of separating the state management function on tourism from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the consolidation of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is necessary and suitable for the local socio-economic conditions./.
