Some 1.6 million labourers expect to get new jobs

(VNF) - Information announced during an online meeting on labour held by the Ministry of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) on January 22nd showed that in 2015, the country is expected to create jobs for 1.6 million people, including 1.51 million domestic jobs and 90,000 labourers to be sent to work abroad.

The meeting agreed to give vocational training to 2.15 million people, raise the number of trained labourers to 50%, reduce the poverty rate by 1.7%-2% compared to 2014, and help 98.5% of beneficiaries’ families and revolutionary contributors’ have an equal or higher standard of living in their residential areas.

Speaking during the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, Vu Duc Dam suggested the MOLISA focus on vocational training, job creation and completion of documents and policies in these areas.

He urged the MOLISA to work closely with relevant ministries to improve scientific, technological and environmental working conditions to increase working productivity.

Reports during the meeting showed that in 2014, despite difficulties, the country realised the targets on poverty reduction, care of revolutionary contributors and for the protection and care of children, while the tasks on developing the labour markets, improving the labour relationship and managing foreign labourers in Vietnam gained positive results.

In 2014, 1.6 million labourers got jobs, an increase of 3.6% compared to 2013, including 106,000 labourers sent to work abroad. In addition, the poverty rate was reduced by 1.8%-2% across the country, fixing it at 5.8%./.
