(VNF) - The Hanoi Open Taekwondo 2016 tour has wrapped up at Dong Da district-based Trinh Hoai Duc gymnasium.

Hosted by Hanoi Sports and Physical Training Centre under Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the tour lured over 400 athletes from 30 delegations, competing in the Poomsae and Gyorugi events with movement and advanced levels. They competed for a total 180 medals in the 12-14, 15-17, and 18-20 age-groups.

Mr Dao Quoc Thang, Head of Hanoi Taekwondo club under Hanoi Sports and Physical Training Centre, said that the capital has mobilized all energy to organize such a large-scale tour, thus creating a good basis for both Hanoi and other localities to practice Taekwondo.

In the advanced level, the 13-member Son La province delegation topped the medal count with seven gold, two silver and one bronze medals, following by Hung Yen province with five gold, four silver, seven bronze medals, and Public Security delegation with two gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

In the movement level for Taekwondo club, Cau Giay district ranked top with seven gold, five silver, seven bronze medals; Nam Tu Liem and Hoang Mai districts are runners-up with five gold, six silver, six bronze and five gold, one silver and two bronze medals, respectively.

This year, Vietnamese Taekwondo athletes for the first time used the electronic hat in the Gyorugi event, while it has been widely used elsewhere in the world since 2015./.
