(VNF) - 21 teachers and students from the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) (Sweden) on March 6 visited the project site of the Norwegian People’s Aid - Restoring the Environment and Neutralizing the Effects of the War (NPA-RENEW) on occasion of their study visit to Vietnam.

In their one-day learning tour, the Swedish delegations visited Kien Phuoc Village of Trieu Ai Commune, Trieu Phong District in Quang Tri province, where they were provided first hand look at the lingering impact of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and the ongoing response to the problem in the used-to-be fierce battle field in Central Vietnam.

In particular, the trip brought to FBA students and teachers the opportunity to observe a Technical Survey (TS) process. The TS process was to follow up a strong claim which was identified by NPA-RENEW non-technical surveyors while interviewing local people on the presence of cluster munitions.

Since the key mission of FBA is promoting peace, security and development in conflict and post-conflict countries, Vietnam was on its members' wish list. The visit, which gained them valuable insights of the efforts made by groups and inpiduals in Vietnam to solve UXO issue, is expected to inspire them to strive better on the journey of peace promotion./.
