According to Indian beliefs, the Bodhi is a sacred tree. During an official visit to Vietnam more than 60 years ago, Dr. Rajendra Prasad - the first President of India, brought a Bodhi tree extracted from the sacred tree where the Buddha attained enlightenment in Bodhgaya (India) as a present to Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh.
