(VNF) - The delegation of the United States Embassy in Vietnam and the Department of General Economics - Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Ted Osius, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Vietnam visited and worked in Phu Tho Province on March 27th.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Bui Minh Chau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that after more than 20 years of establishing diplomatic relations, Vietnam - the U.S relations has developed to a new level.

The working visit to the U.S. of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Obama's visit to Vietnam clearly demonstrate that growing relations. These are important milestones, opening up many opportunities for long-term comprehensive cooperation in the future.

Chairman of the Province Bui Minh Chau (R) presented the bronze drum symbol to Mr. Ted Osius, the U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam.

The Chairman also introduced to the Ambassador the basic features of nature, socio-economics and people of Phu Tho, Mr. Chau affirmed that the United States is one of the biggest partners of Vietnam and Vietnam is a reliable investment destination for U.S. corporations and businesses.

He hoped that the Ambassador and his associates would support Phu Tho on introducing province to promote cooperation with localities and businesses of the U.S. in the fields of economy, culture, tourism and education.

The Ambassador has given special attention to Phu Tho Province in recent years and highly appreciated the Phu Tho’s PCI (Provincial Competitiveness Index), which shows the potential and strength of the Province toward the U.S. businesses.

Ambassador Ted Osius gave a speech at Hung Vuong Gifted High school.

Under the framework of the visit, the Ambassador had meeting with teachers and students of Hung Vuong Gifted High School to have a talk to them and help them understand more about culture of U.S., and Vietnam socio-economic development, giving them more opportunities to participate in programs, and scholarships of the U.S.

Visiting Phu Tho province before the Hung Kings' Death anniversary and the Hung Temple festival 2017, the delegation was honored to offer incense at Hung King Temple; taking a bike tour at Hung King historical site, enjoying special fruit of Phu Tho - Doan Hung pomelo.

The bike tour will contribute to closed relation between the U.S. and Vietnam in general and Phu Tho province in particular. The Ambassador will understand more about the spiritual places of Vietnam, the Hung King Worship Belief - the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, contributing to promotion of Phu Tho tourism and traditional cultural values, regional specialties to international friends./.
