(VNF)- Nearly 100 Vietnamese alumni of German universities partook in a deeply moving get-together held last weekend in Berlin.

The participants, who studied at Germany universities in 1970 and 1971, emotionally met one another again at the Saturday reunion after 45 years.

Many of them are living and working in the European country, while the others have returned to Vietnam to make contributions to their home country.

Addressing the meeting, Nguyen Duc Phuc, head of the organizer, nostalgically briefed the participants on their unforgettable memories. Most of them were only between 20 and 22 back then.

Nguyen Thien Binh, former Trade Counselor to Germany and an alumnus at Maderburg University in Germany back in the 1970s, highly appreciated the get-together for further cementing long-standing friendship almost half a century on.

The batch of Vietnamese alumni in the 1970-1971 academic year boasts several dignitaries holding key positions in Vietnam, including Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Industry and Trade.

Many others are holding managerial and lecturing positions at major Vietnamese universities as well as a number of universities and research institutes in Europe.

The participants sang their hearts out as a way to summon their sweet university memories.

After the reunion, many will join a sightseeing tour around Berlin and visit their former schools, before leaving for a trip to the West European countries./.
