(VNF) - It is necessary that Vietnam’s cultural identity, traditional festivals and rich cuisine should be promoted abroad.

Vietnam’s traditional culture, tourism and culinary week in South Africa kicks off on August 3 in Johannesburg. The program is organized by Vietnam Embassy in South Africa aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishment of ASEAN and to promote Vietnam’s culture and tourism to international friends.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Vu Van Dung emphasized that besides promoting the political, economic and trade ties between Vietnam and South Africa, it is necessary to promote Vietnam’s cultural identity, traditional festivals and rich cuisine so that South African friends could have better understanding of the country. On this occasion, the Ambassador introduced documents, books and photos of Vietnam’s culture, tourism and cuisine.

The Ambassador said the event had attracted much interest from South African friends. He affirmed to continue to promote and introduce these meaningful activities in the coming time./.
