Accordingly, EVN will sponsor part of capital for the southwestern region’s association for poor patients, targeting to support poor families, beneficiaries and disadvantaged pupils and students in Mekong River delta.

Meanwhile, under the deal, the southwestern region steering committee will work with EVN and localities in the region to give proposals on policies to ensure the progress of power supply projects’ in the Mekong River delta while assisting the EVN in addressing obstacles relating to the development of power systems as well as site clearance for power projects.

Nguyen Phong Quang, Vice Head of the southwestern region steering committee, said that the deal would both ensure power development and promote social welfare work. As of late March, 98.1% of families in 13 southwestern localities had access to power.

The southwestern region steering committee highly appreciated EVN for connecting power to remote and ethnic minority-inhabited regions, especially the connection of the national grid to Phu Quoc island district and Kien Hai district’s centre – Hon Tre Island.

After signing the deal, a representative from the EVN presented VND1.5 billion to the southwestern region’s association for poor patients. Accordingly, Mr. Quang committed to use the money to give surgeries to some 1,000 poor patients in the near future./.
