Graduating from Graphic Design Department, Hanoi Architectural University, Ngoan started off as a designer for a creative carpentry workshop, which deemed cut out for her, as she has been into tinkering with hand-made stuff and recycled products since she was a little girl.

However, the young woman has always wanted to do something big, something that could make a name for herself. At first, Ngoan planned to run an online store where she would sell her hand-craft products besides her fulltime job. However, the plan didn’t work. In May 2018, Ngoan decided to quit her full-time job to 100 percent dedicate her time and effort to her own project.

Ngoan moved to Thai Nguyen city and built a small house where she could make crafted fish.

“I chose a totally new land to start my business because I didn’t want familiar people to look at me like a weirdo who would leave a stable, high-paid job to do such a crazy thing as selling crafted fish”, she said.

The fish house is like a memory that marks the fact that I dare to give up my job to pursue my dream. I only have one life, I would live it for myself, not for others”, Ngoan added.

Ngoan has been living and working in her “fish house” for 5 months now, where she could do the thing she wants to do every day. The house is artfully designed, and fully-equipped with tools and other equipment for crafting things, as well as daily necessities and equipment.

I’m satisfied with my current life. There is also rich resource here for me to freely realize my ideas – something that can hardly be found in Hanoi”.
