PM calls for emergency aid to flood victims in central region

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked relevant units to swiftly mobilise all forces in a bid to overcome the aftermath of the severe flooding and landslides which have hit the central localities, and stabilise the lives of local people.

On the same day, the PM presides over a meeting with leaders of central provinces and relevant ministries as they devise strategies aimed at overcoming the consequences of flooding in the central region.
During the course of the meeting, PM Phuc emphasises that the historic level of flooding to hit the region has caused great damage to residents throughout the central region, with 119 people reported dead, including 33 soldiers who have been involved in perilous rescue work
PM Phuc highlights the great efforts put in by relevant forces from the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Public Security as they participate in relief and rescue efforts to protect the lives and property of local citizens. The PM has also decided to temporarily grant VND500 billion from the year’s central budget to provide additional funding for recovery efforts taking place in five central provinces.
