Boosting Vietnam - Mexico Relationship through People-to-People Exchange
The host, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, welcomed Fernando Saiffe back to Vietnam and stressed that VUFO has always valued the relationship with the Mexican Embassy in Vietnam with Mexican partners.

According to the Ambassador, Vietnam-Mexico diplomatic relation has a long history and has obtained outstanding achievements over the years, yet there is much potentials for cooperation in many fields
The host also reaffirmed the key activities of VUFO and the role of people-to-people diplomacy in strengthening solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the peoples of the two nations.

In response, Mr. Fernando Saiffe believed Vietnam is a good example for diversifying external relations, especially in with neighboring countries and in the ASEAN region. Mexico is also a Pacific country so there are many lessons that Mexico can learn from Vietnam's foreign affairs policy.
The Mexican diplomat hoped that the two sides would actively exchange information to further promote cooperation in many fields such as trade and tourism.
"This year is the 47th anniversary of the Vietnam-Mexico relations establishment. More people, especially the young generation need to know more about the good traditional relationship between Vietnamese people and Mexican people."
The host and the guest agreed to coordinate closely to further step up relations between VUFO, the Mexican Foreign Ministry and the Mexican Embassy in Vietnam, voicing their belief that the bilateral friendship and cooperation will keep thriving despite the complicated global context.
Vietnam - Mexico: 45 years of friendship and cooperationIn term of trade, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, despite the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Mexico increased by 37.5 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year, reaching US$5.06 billion. Both are currently members of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and the Forum for East Asia - Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC). The two countries are also working together to effectively implement the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) In term of bilateral relations, the year 2022 marks the 47th anniversary of Vietnam - Mexico bilateral relation establishment. The two sides have also often supported each other at important multilateral and international forums, both served as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council (Vietnam in 2020 - 2021 and Mexico in 2021 - 2022). |
