Danish Film Weeks 2017 to kick off in Hue, Da Nang
(VNF) - Danish Film Weeks 2017 will kich off from May 26th-June 4th in Hue and Da Nang, introducing seven Danish contemporary films to the Vietnamese public .
The Danish Film Weeks 2017 will involve screening of seven films including five fiction films, two animation films: A Royal Affair, Freddy Frogface, A Hijacking, Mini and the Mozzies, The Hunt, Denmark and Silent Heart. These films have won several awards both internationally and in Denmark.
These films will be screened at the Dong Ba Cinema (Hue City) on May 26th- 28th and Le Do Cinema (Da Nang City) on June 2nd-4th. Two films ‘A Royal Affair’ and ‘The Hunt’ are only for viewers from 16 years old and older.
A Royal Affair |
Oscar-nominated A Royal Affair (En kongelig affære) is a sweeping romance set in the 18th century court of King Christian VII. Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Casino Royale) plays a royal physician involved in a doomed love affair with the Queen. A Royal Affair won two Silver Bears at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival.
The Hunt |
A teacher lives a lonely life, all the while struggling over his son's custody. His life slowly gets better as he finds love and receives good news from his son, but his new luck is about to be brutally shattered by an innocent little lie. The Hunt, directed by Thomas Vinterberg, is a disturbing tale of a wrongly-accused schoolteacher, a role for which Mads Mikkelsen won Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. The Hunt won Best Screenplay at the European Film Awards 2012 and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2014 Oscars.

Life isn’t easy for young Victor, who not only has to face a world full of stern grown-ups but also the town bully Freddy Frogface. Then, when Victor has the chance to perform in a talent show, Freddy comes up with a sinister plot to spoil his plans.
Mini and the Mozzies |
Peppered with songs and jazzy tunes, Mini and the Mozzies is the story about Mini the beetle who works in a flea circus together with Egon the Cycling Mosquito and Dagmar the Dancing Mosquito.
Oscar-winning director Bille August's Silent Heart (Stille hjerte) is a gripping family drama which takes place on the beautiful island of Fyn (Funen). Actress Paprika Steen won Best Actress at the San Sebastian Film Festival for her role as a daughter struggling with a mother's tough decision in Silent Heart.
The crew of a Danish cargo ship is hijacked by Somali pirates who proceed to engage in escalating negotiations with authorities in Copenhagen.
Via the Danish Film Weeks, Vietnamese audience will have an opportunity to better understand the Danish modern life and experience Danish contemporary film industry that has created a lot of talented actors and film makers with worldwide reputation./.
