31 foreign delegations from 15 countries have confirmed their participation in the second Friendship Dialogue to be held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 23 and 24, VOV reported, citing the municipal Department of External Relations.
Themed “Industrial Transformation: Experience and Priorities in Development Cooperation”, the friendship dialogue aims to promote relations between Ho Chi Minh City and its sister localities around the world, as well as to create an opportunity to promote Vietnam and its people to international friends.

One of the highlights of the event will be a mayor summit which is expected to see the participation of leaders of the government, ministries, sectors and representatives of international localities that have developed friendly and cooperative relationships with Ho Chi Minh City such as Germany, the US, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, China, Canada, and Finland.
On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City will unveil the Friendship Symbol at Bach Dang Wharf Park in District 1.
Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2024 will take place from September 24 to 27 under the theme of “Industrial Transformation: New Driving Force for Sustainable Development of Ho Chi Minh City.”
The forum is expected to be attended by the Prime Minister, officials of Vietnamese ministries and sectors, along with 1,200 - 1,500 delegates from international financial institutions such as the World Bank (WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Asian Development Bank (ADB), international organizations like the World Economic Forum (WEF), Vietnamese and foreign localities, diplomatic agencies, and businesses. It will also attract many experts in economy, technology, industrial transition, and sustainable development.
The HEF 2024 will focus on such issues as main industrial transformation trends in the world, the governance ecosystem and policies for boosting industrial transformation, HCM City’s industrial transformation strategy and new technology trends, and the role of the city’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in industrial transformation.
The forum’s main activities will take place on September 25. Following the official opening ceremony, the Center for the C4IR in Ho Chi Minh City will also be launched, marking the collaboration between Ho Chi Minh City and the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The day will also include three parallel sessions, an afternoon Policy Dialogue session, and a Gala Dinner.
