Hanoi remains committed to supporting the activities of the Venezuelan Embassy in the capital of Vietnam, especially the events marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, The Hanoi Times reported.

The view was shared at a meeting on May 27 between Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh and Venezuela’s Ambassador to Vietnam Juan Carlos Fernandes Juarez.

Ambassador Juan Carlos Fernandes Juárez indicated that this symbolic move would help take the Vietnam-Venezuela and Hanoi-Caracas relationships to new heights.

Discussing activities to promote cultural exchange, the Venezuelan Ambassador wished to restore the Venezuelan ceramic tile mural at a suitable location in Hanoi.

He emphasized that 2024 is a significant year, as it marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and 17 years of comprehensive partnership.

This year presents an opportunity to reflect on the Vietnam-Venezuela relationship and to lay a foundation for future developments that will contribute positively to the progress of both nations, he said.

Additionally, the Ambassador suggested that in 2024, the two countries could jointly organize events such as "Vietnam Day in Venezuela," "Venezuela Culture Week in Vietnam," and the "Rice Festival in Venezuela" to strengthen the friendship between the peoples of both nations.

Agreeing with the Ambassador guest's suggestions, Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam value the traditional and excellent diplomatic relations with Venezuela.

Thanh highlighted that Hanoi always supports the activities of the Venezuelan Embassy in the capital, especially the events marking the 35th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (December 18, 1989 - 2024).

Regarding the sister city relationship between the two capitals, the Chairman stated that Hanoi would collaborate with relevant agencies to promote this initiative.

He also requested the Venezuelan Embassy in Hanoi to facilitate discussions with Caracas authorities, with a view to a timely signing to strengthen the bilateral relations.

Thanh noted that the city's leaders would assign relevant departments and localities to study and work directly with the Embassy to discuss the details of the cooperation.

Concerning the project to restore the space for a Venezuelan ceramic tile mural at a suitable location in Hanoi, Thanh stressed the need for the project and stated that "Hanoi authorities would assign functional agencies to research and survey suitable locations in line with the overall planning of the Ceramic Road."

In particular, 2024 also marks the 60th anniversary of the Nguyen Van Troi operation (October 1964-2024), an event that entered the history of relations between the two Parties and countries, a symbol of solidarity and support by leftist and progressive forces in Venezuela in particular and progressive forces in Latin America in general to the national liberation and reunification of the Vietnamese people.

Building on the strong foundation of cooperation between the two countries, the Chairman expressed confidence that during his tenure, Ambassador Juárez would promote collaboration between Hanoi and the Venezuelan Embassy, contributing to elevating bilateral relations to new heights.

The traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between the two countries have been strengthened across three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy. Venezuela has welcomed high-level Vietnamese delegations, including a visit by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang to Venezuela in April 2024.

On this occasion, President Maduro Moros and Deputy Prime Minister Quang witnessed the signing of five cooperation documents, including an action plan for agricultural development cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of Agriculture for 2024-2030, and Memorandums of Understanding and Letters of Intent for cooperation between enterprises in the fields of oil and gas, petrochemicals, telecommunications, and building materials production.
