The diplomatic corps and representatives of international organisations in Vietnam are invited to attend the opening and closing sessions of the upcoming 13th National Party Congress, which is scheduled to take place in Hanoi from January 25 to February 2, heard a meeting on January 18. .
The congress will see the attendance of 1,587 delegates representing nearly 5.2 million Party members nationwide, Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan said when briefing the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organisations about the preparations for the big event..
He said the plenary session of the Party Congress will take place on January 25, and the opening session is slated for January 26.
Apart from official delegates, the congress will see the participation of former members of the Party Central Committee (from the third to the eighth tenure), Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, scholars, artists, religious dignitaries and outstanding young people, among others.

The congress is set to approve five reports, including a political report and reports on the implementation of the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy and the building of another strategy for 2021-2030, the realisation of socio-economic tasks in 2016-2020 as well as orientations and tasks for 2021-2025.
It will also review the Party building and the execution of Party statutes during the 12th tenure, while mulling over the leadership of the 12th Party Central Committee.
Quan highlighted the Party’s special attention to the personnel work, considering this a key task.
The personnel preparations have been carried out thoroughly to ensure that candidates who have firm political mettle, pure morality, outstanding capacity and strategic vision will be elected to the 13th Party Central Committee, he went on.
Draft documents to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress received high consensus and feedback from Party members, people from all walks of life, including overseas Vietnamese, as well as former Party and State leaders, National Assembly deputies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, social-political organisations, scientists and managers, the official stressed.
