1 day after iOS 13.5 was released, Unc0ver declared that they had jailbroken the update successfully, then widely publicized this app named Unc0ver 5.0 on their official website not long after that.

What is jailbreak?

Technically, jailbreak helps free your devices from Apple’s software restrictions and customize the interface in various ways, which makes iOS more like Android. In other words, it’s unlocking your devices to do whatever you want to, which most Android users are already accustomed to. In fact, there are some apps that are not approved by Apple due to safety and stability, so jailbreaking contains risks.

Perhaps, “Unc0ver” is a familiar name with iOS users. This app allows every customer to jailbreak their iOS devices. Unlike checkra1n (another jailbreak software), the latest unc0ver version allows users to unlock all devices from iPhone 6/6 Plus to the latest iPhone 11 trio running Apple A12 Bionic chip and utilizing iOS version 13.5 which is the latest firmware released for iPhone and iPad.

What did Unc0ver say?

Unc0ver claimed that its jailbreak is stable, doesn’t affect the battery life and prevent users from Apple services such as iCloud, Apple Pay, or iMessage. Moreover, it maintains Apple's user data protections and doesn't weaken iOS' sandbox security.

"This jailbreak basically just adds exceptions to the existing rules," Unc0ver's lead developer, who goes by Pwn20wnd, told WIRED. "It only enables reading new jailbreak files and parts of the file system that contain no user data."

Apple is working on patching the flaws in order to close the jailbreak. They also advise users to not use jailbreaking, because it can create more new vulnerabilities, thereby deteriorating the security.

However, this latest jailbreak tool somehow shows the flattering in the security of Apple, which is used to be the selling point of iPhone and other products from Apple.
