"Hoa Binh is among the flood hardest-hit provinces during the historic flood in early October. Through this aid package, CARE hopes to help the people of Hoa Binh, especially women, who usually suffer the most from the lack of hygienic necessities caused by flooding, to quickly restore their daily life,” said Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, Acting Country Director of CARE International in Vietnam.

According to report from Hoa Binh provincial authorities, the historic flood in early October killed and injured 34 people, submerged over 3,100 houses and destroyed 100% of rice fields, while caused huge damage on other crops.

The flood also swept away 457 hectares of aqua production and thousands of livestock. By October 19th, the total loss had been estimated at over VND 1,600 billion (over USD 70 million)./.
