48-MW solar farm in Binh Thuan starts operation

The plant has been invested with USD 55 million which has a total capacity of 48MWp. It will provide approximately 98 million kWh of electricity for the national grid.

This 48 megawatt solar farm is the largest solar farm using trackers which rotate the solar panels towards the sun for maximum power performance.

Last month, the Mui Ne Solar Power Plant in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province was officially inaugurated and put into commercial operation on June 12. This is the 11th solar plant in the southern province put into commercial operation.

Vietnam has built a national energy development planning project for the 2016-2020 period, with a vision to 2035.

The project aims to ensure national energy security by persifying energy resources; making effective and economical use of new energy resources, including renewable ones; developing a competitive energy market; protecting the environment; and ensuring sustainable development.

According to the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) group, as of May 31, about 50 solar power plants have been put into operation with a total designed capacity of about 2,481MW. There are about 4,000 customers mounting solar panels on the rooftop with total capacity about 45MW.

Dry climate and sunny weather, especially in the northern area, are advantages of Binh Thuan to develop solar power along with wind power projects./.
